Kenya 7s kicked off their Hong Kong 7s campaign with a 22-5 loss to Fiji in a Pool C match staged at Hong Kong Stadium on Friday.
Paul Murunga charges had lost the last three meetings against Fiji this season. In the three matches, Shujaa had conceded 117 and had managed to score 31 points. They would start the clash by conceding at the first minute when Aminiasi Tuimaba dived over after being set up by Jerry Tuwai.

Fiji who are the most successful side in Hong Kong 7s with 18 titles struck again at the third minute through Vilimoni Botitu. Livai Ikanikoda added two more points from conversion for a 12-0 lead. As Kenya tried to surge forward the Fijians intercepted before producing a beautiful display which was completed by magician Tuwai.
Kenya were able to respond at the start of the second half after skipper Jeffery Olouch crossed over to reduce the gap to 12 points. Alasio Sovita Naduva restored their 17 point gap after crossing over for their fourth try, and they side held one tow in the match.
Kenya’s will play Australia and New Zealand on Saturday.
