USIU ran in six tries past Mombasa to lift the Derrick Obiero Memorial cup at the USIU grounds.
USIU went ahead early in the match after being awarded a penalty try following a series of infringements at the break down before Mombasa would reply with a three pointer to make matters 7-3.
The martials would then extend their lead with two tries one from the back of a maul and another at the corner by Kelvin Munene, Eliud Mulakoli getting one conversion right for a 22-3 lead heading into the break.
The martials were quicker out of the blocks scoring within two minutes of the restart for a 27-3 lead. Mombasa would then martial their troops to score their first through Mapipe Mawira to cut the deficit to 19 points.
USIU would then extend their lead to 32 points before Mombasa would reply with another through Benedict Wesonga who had just come on to make matters 32- 15.
Eliud Mulakoli would then hit the final nail on Mombasa’s coffin with a try late in the second half, the game ending 37-15.
