St Peters reclaim Western Region 7s, Kakamega cruise to 15s finals

St Peters Mumias have reclaimed the Western Region Rugby 7s title after beating Vihiga 21-10 in the finals played in Chavakali.

The Kakamega County Champions, landed three converted tries in the clash while their opponents crossed over for two unconverted tries. The two sides are expected to represent the region in the National Games set for the Coast in April.

In the semis, Vihiga toiled past Mukumu to proceed to the finals. Mukumu scored one converted try while  Vihiga crossed over for two unconverted tries. St Peters had a good run against Chebuyusi in the second semi-final, scoring 33-0. Chebuyusi would later beat Mukumu 14-0 to finish third in the competition.

Chebuyusi had eliminated defending champions Chavakali at the quarter-final stage after handing them a 12-10 beating. Bungoma also bowed out at the quarters after a 19-0 loss to Mukumu.

15s Rugby

Kakamega High have a chance to defend the 15s title after reaching the finals. The Barbarians pummeled Nambale 62-0 to reach the finals.  They will know their opponent this Wednesday morning after Koyonzo and Chesamis play.

The match between the two sides ended in a 3-3 draw.
