The KRU championship league resumes after the break meant to pave way for Enterprise and Mwamba cup fixtures. Six matches are lined up for Saturday 16 across the country for rugby action enthusiasts.
Only leaders Western Bulls were involved over the weekend against Nakuru where they lost 71-7, the coach whoever resting key players for their trip to the highlands of Gusii where they will face former kenya cup side Kisii RFC in what is expected to be a crunching test for both sides. Bulls won in the first leg at the Bull ring. Both teams head into the fixture on the back of wins against Kitale and MMUST respectively in round 12.
Second on the table Catholic University find themselves on the road, this time to face coastal based Mombasa RFC at the Mombasa Sports Club in a repeat of a clash between the two in the inaugural 2016/2017 season of the championship league that saw Mombasa record a win over Monks.
USIU will be away to relegation threatened SC Pirates at St. Josephs Ukunda, as they look to catch up with leaders Bulls and Monks on the top of the table. Pirates playing in front of their fans will be hoping to use their home advantage to get the much needed win.
In the rift rugby lovers will be treated to an an entertaining clash as neighbors UOE and Kitale meet in a fixture that will be played at the UOE Pavilion. The students are 8th while Kitale are 9th on the log with just two points separating them. A win will be a big boost to the teams in their play off ambitions.
A wounded MMUST will be hosting Kisumu RFC. The lake boys will be looking to cement a play off berth while a win for MMUST who occupy the penultimate play off spot at the moment will keep their play off hopes alive with just under four matches remaining.
Ngong RFC will be looking to get off the bottom of the table when they play visitors to Egerton University at the University grounds. The students are 10th on the log with 19 points, four points above bottom placed Ngong.
