Dagoretti High school narrowly overcame Upper Hill 11-8 in the final of the Nairobi region games to proceed as the sole representatives in the national games to be held at Shimo la Tewa high school, Mombasa.
The two schools that have been nurtured by Peter Orero who is currently at Dagoretti went into the break with one try a piece after Wandera Mubarak touched down for Upper Hill before Lukas Aluso crossed over for Dagoretti to level matters.
The second half would prove to be a battle of the boot, Bonventure Opande would convert one penalty for a 8-0 lead before Timothy Lugalia replied for Ditchez to level matters. That’s how the second half would end, both teams level at 8-8 forcing the game into extra time.
Lugalia would score the all-important points from a drop goal to secure a place in the nationals and simultaneously eliminate the east African defending champions.
Dagoretti will represent Nairobi county in the KSSSA national school games next month in Mombasa. Other region will be in action this weekend tom determine the winner.
