Canada condemn Kenya 7s to third straight loss in Vancouver 7s

Kenya 7s suffered the third straight loss in the pool B of the Vancouver 7s after going down 36-21 to hosts Canada in the final pool match at the BC Place stadium on Sunday morning.

This was the second meeting between Kenya and Canada this season. The first meeting this season came at the Sydney 7s where Kenya fell 24-14. As they met again, Canada needed a win over Kenya to keep the quarter-final dream alive.

Matt Mullins kicked off their impressive first-half display, racing on to score after being released by Harry Jones. Connor Braid then visited Kenya’s try box twice to send his side 19 points up.

Kenya had a perfect response in the final minutes of the first half scoring twice to cut the gap to five points.  After a nice build up by Kenya, Cyprian Kuto found his way past Canada in the middle and dashed on to get a converted try for Kenya.

Kuto was then able to force his way to the try line after being set up Jacob Ojee by an offload on the left wing.  On return from the break, Canada came back stronger and Braid dived over and converted his own try to extend their lead..

The side then added two more through Admir Cejvanovic and Phil Berna before Kenya pulled back through Daniel Taabu. Kenya will play in the Challenge trophy for the sixth time in a row this season.
