Flawless Miathene retain Meru County 15s title

Miathene High School have retained the Meru County 15s title thanks to a 29-5 win over Abothugucii in the finals staged at Meru School.

The sides fly-half Dennis Mwirigi was in a fine form as his scored two tries and added two conversions. Brian Murithi crossed the whitewash twice while fullback Kadir Gasare dotted one try. St Cyprian finished third after beating Ontulili Boys 12-0.

Miathene coach Patrick Mwika is impressed with how his charges executed the game plan and picked fly-half Mwirigi for praises.

“Am happy and I thank God my boys are still the Meru county 15s Aside champions, Today’s game was awesome, we were at a high pace from the first half to the last minute, set pieces working so well and my flyhalf played his role well, ” Mwika told Scrummage.

His side won the title without losing a single match and he hopes to carry the fine form to the regional with his ultimate goal being to play in the finals once again.

” I congratulate my boys for that win. Our journey to the Nationals has started well and my hope is that my boys will still retain the top position in the Eastern region games and bounce to the Nationals, he added.
