Kabras coach Henly Du Plessis has come out to state the importance of his team’s 41-22 win over Mean Machine on Saturday as they bounced back to winning ways after suffering a loss to KCB.
According to the coach the match was a good platform for some of his players to get playing time bringing in the likes of Geoffrey Shitambasi, Kevin Keegan, Fabian Orlando and Paul Abuto into the starting line up.
Bramwell Mayaka, Geoffrey Messo, Johnstone Mung’au and Malika Habil also made an appearance from the bench. Hillary Odhiambo, Logan Basson and Mario Wilson who have been ever-present did not feature in the game while Dan Sikuta and Max Adaka started on the bench.
“We used this game to get some guys game time especially those who have been doing well in the second team and some who have been making cameo appearances. We need to have more players with match fitness ahead of playoffs.” Du Plessis told Scrummage after the match.
The tactician was quick to acknowledge the importance of a win after his team had gone down to KCB the last time they were in the city saying it was important for his players and a big boost to the mind set of his players.
“We were seeking to bounce back to winning ways from last weekends loss. We are now going back to our style of play that has been working for us in the last 10 games. Our mind set was slightly different from others.”
“I think last week game hurt us a lot so they had to over come the hurt in the first half and realize that they can do nothing about the past. They concentrated on systems and that is why the second half was better.”
Arch rivals KCB managed a 29-20 win over Oilers meaning the two sides will head into the break separated by point difference, the millers edging the bankers for top spot.
Kabras welcomes Mombasa RFC for an enterprise pre quarter match in Kakamega as Kenya cup takes a break. After the break this will be the last four matches for the Kakamega based outfit.
