Nakuru RFC bagged a 33-18 win over visiting Strathmore Leos in a Kenya Cup match staged at Nakuru Athletics Club on Saturday 2 March.
Leos were the first on the score-sheet drilling in a penalty. Nakuru responded through Tyson Asiago before Geoffrey Ominde added the extras. The exchange continued with the visitors drilling in another penalty whereas Nakuru scored a converted try through Dancan Abuyeka while Ominde added two more points.
In the second half, Nakuru picked from where they left. Abuyekha crossed over to register his name on the try scorers list once again after being set up Philip Owour. Ominde’s conversion saw them hit 21 point mark.
The home side continued to enjoy their good display with Charles Odongo adding the fourth try while Ominde hit the target from the tee. Strathmore were awarded a penalty try after a repeated infringement by Nakuru before bagging another try to move to 18 points.
Nakuru sealed their victory with the final trying coming two minutes before the whistle.
At the Nakuru Showground, Oilers went to Kenya Cup defending Champions KCB 29-20.
