Championship log: Western Bulls top as MMUST storm in top half

After the ninth round of the second tier-KRU Championship, former Kenya Cup side Western Bulls have assumed the top spot after beating South Coast Pirates.

Echulusi moved top after a bonus-point win in the clash staged at the Bull Ring. They have now collected 33 points following seven wins, one draw and loss. On the score charts, they are tied with USIU at the top as they have scored 177 and conceded 78.

Former Kenya Cup sides Catholic Monks and USIU are tied at 32 points each after defeats to MMUST and Kitale RFC respectively.

Kisumu RFC are fourth despite not being involved in last weekends action after Ngong Warriors failed to travel.  Howard Okwemba charges were awarded walkover and they have 23 points.

At the fifth spot is MMUST who shocked  Monks at the Kakamega Showground. Ochieng Ahaya charges have 18 points following five wins in the last nine matches. The Students will, however, face immense pressure stay in the top six as Egerton and Mombasa just a point behind them.

UoE Trojans’ third win of the season has pushed them two points above the danger zone. Kisii, Ngong Warriors and Kitale RFC are tied at 14 points while South Coast Pirates are placed at the bottom on the log.
