Nakuru crowned KRU 10 aside first leg champions

Nakuru edged Impala 12-7 to lift the first leg the KRU women 10 aside tournament held at the Kenyatta University grounds on Saturday 2.

Nakuru’s tries came from Maureen Njoki and Vivian Akumu with Dorcas Nyambura slotting in one conversion to seal the win. Rachael Adhiambo scored Impala’s solitary try of the match, Ann Gorretti adding the two points.

The champions kicked off their title chase with a 37-0 mauling of the hosts Bladbabes. Nakuru then managed a slim 7-0 win over Homeboyz to book a place in the semi finals where they convincingly saw off Northern Suburbs 24-0.

Impala on the other hand made victims of Comras, Shamas and later Homeboyz in the semi finals to book a a date with Nakuru in the finals.

Homeboyz took third position after a 22-0 win over Suburbs who had to settle for fourth position. Mwamba came in fifth with Shamas taking sixth. Comras and Kisumu then followed in seventh and eighth positions respectively.

Dolphins, Bladbabes and Egerton take the bottom positions in that order.
