Nondescripts head coach Willis “Foxxy” Ojal was impressed with his substitutes display in their 17-3 Kenya Cup win against Mean Machine over the weekend.
Nondies went to this match on the back of a 41-5 drubbing at the hands of Kabras and were keen to return to winning ways.
They, would, however, suffer an early scare as Mean Machine led for the better part of the opening half courtesy of a Festus Shiasi 40-yard penalty.
“Second half substitutes are always important and whoever comes in has to take the game to the next level,” Ojal said.
“All 23 picked for the match day have to bring something to the table otherwise there’s no point of having you in the squad,” added Ojal.
The tactician further said they decided to minimize on errors, something which worked for them.
“We realized that we had been penalized 10 times in the first half while Machine had been penalized only twice. We decided to make less errors in the second half and that really helped us,” he said.
“In the first half we were playing like (them) Machine and we just agreed to go back to the basics of the game,” concluded Ojal.
Ojal’s charges will face Nakuru RFC in their next Kenya Cup fixture on February 9.
