USIU catch up with Monks on championship log

Catholic Monks and USIU top the championship standings both with 31 points after eight rounds of the league.

Monks saw off ninth placed UOE 24-5 in a match played at the catholic grounds. USIU on the other hand convincingly beat western based MMUST who are a further eighth 28-7 at the USIU grounds to pick maximum points that saw them come level with Monks. The leaders have lost just one match apiece so far.

Western Bulls is third, separated from the leaders by three points after winning against Ngong to become the only team that won its away fixture over the weekend consequently making Ngong who are seventh the only team that lost a home fixture over the weekend.

Mombasa are up to fifth position just one point behind Kisumu who are placed fourth at 18 points. It is the second succesive win for the coast based franchise who will be looking to replicate their 2016/2017 championship season that saw them get promoted.

Egerton Wasps are out of the relegation spots after a narrow(12-11) win over Kitale at the nest and they stand one point above Kitale who are 11th and South Coast Pirates who maintain the last spot in the league despite getting a walk over against Kisii who were not able to honor the fixture. Kisii will remain sixth despite giving away free points over the weekend.
