Kenya 7s produced a brilliant second-half display to beat Argentina 24-7 in the Challenge Trophy Semis of the Hamilton 7s played on Sunday Morning at the FMG Stadium.
The match kicked off well for Kenya as captain Jacob Ojee went over to score the opening try at the second minute. Argentina hit back immediately with Mateo Carreras sneaking past Johnstone Olindi and Ojee to bag a converted try.
Kenya were reduced to six men after Olindi was sin-binned for stretching out his arm to tap Argentina’s pass. Shujaa, however, stood tall and avoided conceding any other points in the opening half.
From the restart after the halftime break, Kenya 7s reclaimed the lead with Ojee latching a kick to bag this second try of the day but their conversion attempt hit the uprights.
The East African stretched the lead after Cyprian Kuto produced a clean pair of heels on the right side and added a seven-pointer to Kenya 7s results. The side would romp into the finals after Daniel Taabu set up Brian Wahinya who send the scores to 24-7 with a converted try.
Kenya will now tackle the winner of the clash against Spain and England in the final.
