Kenya pip France for first win in Hamilton 7s

Kenya 7s finally registered the first win the 2018/19 World 7s Series Group Stages after beating 19-15 France in their final pool C match played at FMG Stadium on Saturday morning.

Shujaa scored first through skipper Jacob Ojee who paced down the left wing to score at the corner flag. Three minutes later Nisie Huyard equalized at the other end for France.

The East Africans stretched the lead once again after Johnstone Olindi turned his marker inside out before releasing Vincent Onyala who was supporting him. Onyala dotted the try and Daniel Taabu ensured a seven-point lead after converting.

Taabu then added his name on the try-scoring list after dancing past France defenders and bagged seven-pointer for Kenya.

A knock on by Cyprian Kuto in Kenya’s five-meter box awarded the Frenchmen a scrum and they easily channeled the ball to the left and scored through Remi Siega.

They would cut the gap to four points after Jimmy Yobo’s try but Kenya were able to hold on for a win, Kenya  have however dropped to the challenge Trophy Quarters.
