Kenya 7s fall to SA in Hamilton 7s

Kenya 7s started the Hamilton 7s campaign with a 29-10 loss to South Africa in a Pool C match staged at FMG Stadium on Saturday morning.

Shujaa managed to overturn possession, and launched an attack that saw Johnstone Olindi fed skipper Jacob Ojee who put Kenya 7s into an early lead. Paul Murunga charges however failed to add the extras.

Two minutes later the South African responded with a try from 30-year-old Kyle Brown who fend of Olindi and leveled the scores. At the sixth minute, SA were back at it again and this time round Werner Kok went over for their second try.

The side went to the break leading 17-5 after Zain Davids bagged a converted try.  In the final half, Kenya would start off on promising not but conceded two penalties.  World 7s Series defending champions utilized the chance and scored through Branco Du Preez.

At the other end, Daniel Taabu put through Cyprian Kuto who bulldozed his way to the try box for Kenya’s second try. SA  sealed their win with a try from Stedman Gans. Kenya will face Scotland in the next match.
