Kenyan International moves to USA

Kenya Cup side Menengai Oilers has received a major blow following the exit of Kenyan International  Eric Ombasa who has moved to the USA.

Ombasa last featured for Oilers as they fell to Kabras RFC in Kakamega on 12 January. He later jetted out  of the country on Tuesday 15 January.

Scrummage understands that the player who has been a key member of the side is set to join Atlanta Old White Rugby Club in USA. Head coach Gibson Weru admits his exit is a blow to the side since is among the most experienced players

Weru is, however, happy that his player will be able to progress his career while he is abroad.

“Eric Ombasa left last week. Its a huge loss for us. He was one of our experienced players at the same time I wish him well. He wants to pursue rugby and I believe we have talent in abundance that needs to get out there and showcase itself,” Weru told Scrummage.

“For us its a loss and win at the same time since its a progress in his career,” he added.

He will link up with another Kenyan International Sam Muregi and Daniel Abounji.
