The Kenya U-20 team,Chipu has organized a trials session on Sunday 20 January at the RFUEA grounds.
It is from here that a team to represent the country at this year’s Barthes Cup to be held in Nairobi in March will be picked.
“The U20 team is scheduled to have trials on the 20th January 2019 for selection of the team that will represent Kenya in the Barthes Cup,” reads part of a communique released by the Kenya Rugby Union on Wednesday.
“Details will be communicated as the day’s progress,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the Chipu technical bench remains unchanged with ex-Kenya international Paul Odera serving as head coach while Kenya Harlequin’s Jimmy Mnene is the Team Manager.
Mike Owino will continue with his role as the strenghth and conditioning coach as Stella Mwende serves as the team’s physio.
Kenya, last year’s silver medalists will be hoping to go one better this time.
The side is is pool A alongside Senegal, Tunisia and defending champions Namibia.
They will face Tunisia on March 27 and a win could see them renew their rivalry against Namibia in the decider scheduled for March 30.
Pool A champions will book a slot at the 2019 World Rugby Trophy in Brazil.
Pool B, to be played in April has Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Morocco and Madagascar while neighbours Uganda, Algeria, Zambia and Ghana are in pool C.
