Makatiani lifts Mombasa past Kisii

Mombasa RFC continued their home dominance against Kisii RFC with a 10-5 win in a match played at the Mombasa Sports Club on Saturday 12.

Kisii were unable to break the loosing jinx to Mombasa while playing them in Mombasa despite going ahead in the first half with a try by Kevin Odhiambo.

Mombasa scored all their points in the second half, Elias Gitonga slotting in a penalty with 18 minutes of play left to make matters 5-3.

Gabriel Makatiani would then score the winning try for Mombasa with ten minutes remaining on the clock, Gitonga getting the conversion right to make it 10-5. Mombasa would then hold on for the win.

Kisii lost to Mombasa in a game played in the coastal town during the 2016/2017 championship, but went on to defeat Mombasa in the finals played in Nairobi where both teams secured Kenya cup promotion.
