Kenya Cup side Nakuru RFC have confirmed the return of Monate Akwei after his move to Homeboyz failed to materialize.
Head Coach Mitch Ochollah has revealed that the player is back at the club bases and has resumed training. The former Kenya Under 20 star will be available for selection as Nakuru travels to Nairobi to face Kenya Harlequins.
“Monate is back and he is currently training with us. There was a transfer request but his move out of the club never materialized. So he is available for selection this coming weekend,” Ocholla told Scrummage.
Monate together with Henry Ayah, Billy Kipchirchir and Kelvin Kioko left the club in last year’s transfer window. Monate and Ayah joined Homeboyz while Kipchirchir and Kioko moved to Daystar.
During his short stay at Homeboyz, Monate featured in the Safari 7s squad which finished sixth at the 2018 edition.
The forward also traveled to Dubai 7s with the Homeboyz squad. His return will be a big boost to the side as he was one of their outstanding players last season.
