KCB boss, Kenya Lionesses coach nominated for Sports Personality Awards

KCB head coach Curtis Olago and Kenya Lionesses head coach Kevin Wambua have been nominated for the Sports Personality of Year Awards set for Mombasa County on January 11 2019.
Wambua nomination comes after he guided Kenya Lionesses to their first ever Africa 7s title in the finals held in Gaborone, Botswana in May after a 29-7 win over Uganda in the finals.
The coach led Kenya Lionesses to the semi-finals of the Women’s World Series Qualifiers in Hong Kong and also earned a sixth place finish at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia  in April and recently won the Safari 7s title.
Olago on his part led KCB to defend the Kenya Cup title without losing a single match. The side also retained the Impala Floodlit Tournament.
They will battle for the award with Tennis coach Rose Owino, Telkom Hockey Coach Jos Openda and Kenya Prisons Volleyball coach Josp Barasa.
Other rugby Nominees include Kenyan International Willy Ambaka and Kenya Lionesses ace Janet Okello who have been nominated for the Male and Female Best player of the year award.
Africa Champions and Safari 7s winners Kenya Lionesses have been nominated for the Women’s Sports Team of the year.
