Kiambu RFC hailed after win over JKUAT

After securing a Narrow 13-12 win over JKUAT Cougars in the Nationalwide match day three encounter, staged at the Bladbin on 1st December, Kiambu RFC tactician Njuguna Githang’a hailed his side for maintaining a resilient performance for the 80+ minutes of play.
“We really needed this against a team that’s played in the championship league, A lot of my players did put in a shift especially in the last 10minutes when JKUAT were throwing the kitchen sink, bathtub, house furniture and everything at us as they pushed for a late win. When your players put their bodies on the line like that it is hard as a coach to find fault,” hetold the club’s official portal
In the first half, Kiambu secured two penalties that Cyrus Mwangi converted for a 6-0 lead. The visitors came to the party in the final ten minutes of the first half grinding slowly into Kiambu’s red zone for a 6-5 score line at the break.
The Central defending champions switched up the tempo in the second half with Chege Charles scoring a captain’s try by splitting the defence for the game’s second try. Cyrus Mwangi would make the score 13-5 in the 45th minute. A scrum outside Kiambu’s 22 would allow JKUAT to slice through to score making it 13-10, before converting to make it 13-12 setting up a nail-biting to the final play.
