Kenya Lionesses coach discloses Dubai 7s target

Kenya Lionesses head Coach Kevin Wambua says he will use Dubai sevens to test new players in the team and fine tune their skill set ahead of the Tokyo Olympics and HSBC qualifiers next year.
The ladies’ side landed an invitation to the tournament after emerging as the African champions after downing Uganda in Gaborone early this year.
“Our main goal is to be ready for next year, being in this Pool is big for us as we have qualifiers for the HSBC Series as well as the Olympics in Tokyo. We want to use this tournament to test some of the new players coming into the system.” Wambua told KRU official portal.
Hooker Sophie Ayieta, Fly-half Sarah Oluche and winger Diana Awino are all set for their maiden appearance for the Lionesses in Dubai.
“Training so far has been very positive, we have brought in some new players who have a lot of potential in them. Our main focus, especially with them, then needs to fine-tune their skill set in preparation for the coming year.”
Kenya will face New zealand, Ireland and Russia in a group A clash.
