KRU CHAMPIONSHIP

Red for both sides as Bulls edge MMUST in Kakamega Derby

Western Bulls came from behind to beat  MMUST 15-14 in tensed KRU Championship opener staged at MMUST Grounds.

The hosts MMUST scored the opening try through Felix Wamocho and they successfully added the extras to lead 7-0. Bulls managed to equalize after a penalty try.

Open Winger Tyson Juma landed the second try of the match for MMUST and it was converted to send the home side seven points up again. The newbies held on for a 14-7 scoreline at the break.

On return from the break, Echulusi, a former Kenya Cup side put their host to pressure and they were paid off with skipper Treasure Odundo going over for the second try that cut the gap to two points.

The slim gap sent the game to a tense mode and elicited emotions that saw Venance Shikuba who was playing against his former employers sent off as well as Bulls skipper Treasure Odundo.

Bulls added three points from the tee to lead in the match. MMUST threw away their chance to reclaim the lead after sending wide of their two penalties.
