Nondies became the first side to register a win in the 2018/19 Kenya Cup season after edging their Jamhuri rivals Homeboyz in a match staged at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
Nondies took an early lead following a drop goal by Martin Juma. The Rangers then hit the 10 point mark following a converted try by Ernest Ngong. Homeboyz responded with a try after Henry Ayah set up Bush Mwale who dashed from his own 22 to score.
The Deejays took lead for the first in the match after Stanley Isogol went over for their second try of the game. Ayah’s conversion saw the side head to break leading 14-10.
In the finals half, Nondies retook the lead by scoring another try through Njenga Brian. The side added three more points and hit the 20 point mark after a penalty by Juma. Homeboyz efforts to come back in the game were hampered after two of their tries were denied with one being from Steve Otieno.
Homeboyz would launch a fight back in the dying minutes of the clash but Nondies held on to win the match.
