WORLD SEVENS SERIES

All eyes on Dubai for Kenya lionesses

Kenya national sevens ladies side coach Kevin Wambua says the side has already shifted focus to the upcoming Dubai sevens after a fruitful weekend at the safari sevens.
The Kenya lionesses will feature as an invitational side in Dubai after being crowned African champions early this year. Wambua stated that Safari 7s helped the new players blend into the team while picking important lessons and match fitness along the way. However notes that the team will have to put in more work at the breakdowns and decision making aspects of the game.
“It has been a positive tournament. We had new players in the system and we wanted to try out different combinations. It was good blending in new players and the senior players holding on their own. The teams that we are going to face have already played one tournament so it was important to have Safari 7s tournament as it helped the players gain confidence after big wins and match fitness. We are now looking forward to Dubai.”
“We will need to work harder in training especially on our decision making and on breakdowns.” He added.
This is the second series that will feature women’s action and the Kenya Lionesses will look to impress in the tournament.
