Samurai beat Kenya to win Safari 7s title

Samurai are the Safari 7s champions after beating Kenya 7s 21-14 in the finals staged at RFUEA Grounds on Sunday evening.
This was the third straight face off in the finals.  In 2015 Samurai picked a 20-19 over Kenya 7s in the finals while they revenged the loss in 2016 by beating Samurai 38-21 at Kasarani in the finals. As they met again, on Sunday evening Ruan Motsert gave Samurai the lead and Augustine Lugonzo conversion saw them go  7-0 up.
Kenya 7s skipper Eden Agero responded with a try at the other end and Daniel Taabu added the extras to tie the scores.  Alvin Otieno made a try-saving tackle and stopped Frank Wanyama who was on his way to the try line. Taabu would then kick the ball and chased putting Samurai sweeper to pressure and as he fumbled, oncoming Johnstone Olindi picked the ball and raced to the try line for a converted try.
Samurai tied the scores on return from the break following a converted try. Kurt Lee Arendse restored Samurai’s lead by touching down at the center of the post and a successful conversion saw them get to a 21-14 lead. They would hold on to reclaim the title.
