Kenya, Samurai reach Safari 7s quarters as Homeboyz upset UG

Kenya 7s whipped Apache 7s 42-0 to join Samurai 7s in the quarters of the competition which is going on at the RFUEA Grounds.
Shujaa went to the break leading 17-0. Daniel Taabu forced his way to the try line for the opening try that was converted by Johnstone Olindi. The side extended the lead with Herman Humwa’s try. Alvin Otieno added the third try of the opening half.
Second half
Leonard Mugaisi dashed to the try line and set up Olindi who put his name on the scoresheet after the restart. Taabu would convert the try before Harold Anduvate’s converted try put Kenya in 35-0 up. Cyprian Kuto’s converted try saw Kenya register another huge win in the competition. Mwamba suffered the second straight loss after going down to Namibia 24-5.
Homeboyz upsets Ug
In Pool C, National 7s Circuit champions Homeboyz upset Uganda by handing them an 24-10 beating.  Uganda scored first in the match before Homeboyz responded with two quick tries by Collins Shikoli for a 10-0 lead. Debutant Monate Akwei would then intercept a pass by Uganda and raced to the try box before setting up Shikoli for a hat-trick.
Tolbert Onyango’s charges touched on return from the break but Akwei and William Diffu ensured a 24-10 win for the Deejays.
Morans win
Morans maintained their winning run by beating Portugal. Kenya Morans touched down the opening try through MMUST  forward Timothy Mmasi. Impala’s Mark Kwemoi converted. The Portuguese responded with an unconverted try and Morans went to the break with a slim lead.
In the final half, Brian Wahinya went over for Morans second try and Kenya held on for a 12-5.
Spain and Samurai
Spain came from behind to beat Red Wailers 21-14. Dennis Rundle crossed over to give Wailers an opening try that was converted for a 7-0 lead. The Spaniards fought back and scored a converted try to tie the scores. Fernandez gave the side a lead at the stroke of halftime after crossing over for a converted try. Alex Olaba tied the scores with a converted try. His side would, however, let in an easy try that saw Spain reach the knock out stage. In the first match of the pool, Samurai whipped Emerging Uganda 50-5 to reach the knock out stages.
