Kenya lament inadequate friendlies ahead of Repechage opener

Kenya Simbas head coach Ian Snook says the side has  had inadequate build up matches ahead of their Repechage meeting with Canada at the Stade Delort in Marseille,France on Sunday.
Ahead of  the four-team tournament,Snook’s charges have played one friendly against Romania in Bucharest and lost 34-5.
“We probably needed two or three more warm-up games to be better prepared, but we must just go into the repechage without them,” the New Zealander told KweseESPN.
The tactician however noted that the mood in the team is upbeat  as they chase for a historic World Cup qualification.
“The Romania game is the only warm-up we have had, so the preparation has been pretty minimal. But the boys are in good spirits so we will see how we go.”
The Repechage will be Simbas final chance of qualifying for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. After facing the Canadians, Kenya will confront Hong Kong on November 17 before playing Germany six days later.
The tournament will for the first time adopt a round-robin format with the best ranked team slotting in Pool B of next year’s global showpiece.
Kenya booked a spot at the event after managing a second place finish in the 2018 Africa Gold Cup.
