Kiambu edge MKU in a preseason tie

Nationwide side Kiambu Badgers edged out MKU Stingers 24-22 in a pre-season friendly held on Sunday
The Badgers were the first on the scoresheet courtesy of halfback Peter Moinde’s try. Cyrus Mwangi on kicking duty earned his team two extra points through an effortless conversion to put the host in a 7-0 lead.
Despite Kiambu’s sustained attacking scheme, Stingers pounced back landing their first try in the match. A penalty was later on awarded to the Badgers for a high tackle against Peter Karanja that showcased a stunning conversion from Mwangi placing the scoreline at 10-5 before the teams left for the first half.
It was an action-packed second half that verified a comeback from the Stingers who scored 10 points putting them in the lead before Edwards Muturi’s try that was successfully converted to retain Kiambu’s early lead.
Moments later Stingers were back on the scoresheet with a converted try to hold a 17-22 lead in their favor. Cheng’ole’s try denied the visitors victory after another Mwangi’s prowess display of a well-converted try for a 22-24 lead final score.
This attests a promising season for the Badgers in the upcoming KRU Championship as they demonstrate a positive streak in the pre-season performance.
