Oilers shock Nakuru in a preseason clash

Kenya Cup newbies Menengai Oilers overcame their hometown rivals Nakuru RFC 20-12 in a preseason build up match staged in Nakuru on Saturday 27 October.
New signing Henry Okwako was the first player to get on the scoresheet but the side failed to add the extras in the match. Kelvin Mukoyani added the second try but once again the kicker sent wide this conversion.
Third try
Gibson Weru charges landed the third try through Derrick Kimani to lead 15-0. Centre Kelvin Omiyo pulled one back for Wanyore making the scores 15-5.
The newbies restored their 15 point gap after Rodgers Audi crossed over for Oilers fourth. The try saw Oilers hit the 20 point mark. Nakuru’s hooker Lucas Atito went over for a converted try and his try was the last serious action of the game.
Third loss 
This marks the third straight loss for Nakuru in the preseason. Mitch Ocholla’s side started the preseason with a 37-30 loss to Homeboyz in the Impala Floodlit quarters before a 22-13 loss to Kenya Harlequins in the plate Semis.
For Oilers, It’s their first preseason friendly,  they are expected to play their second friendly next weekend. Oilers second side also beat Nakuru 22-12.
