Kenya Harlequins have won the Impala Floodlit Plate after a 25-6 victory over Mwamba RFC in a match played at Impala Grounds on Saturday 27 October.
Charles Cardovills charges registered four tries, two penalties, and a conversion while they managed to hold off Mwamba who only got on the scoresheet via two penalties.
Fullback Brian Kivasia gave Mwamba a six-point lead following two successive penalties. Just after the 20th-minute mark Quins responded. Ugandan import David Semwami barged over and cut the gap to a point. Brian Beckham had an easy time to add the extras for a 7-6.
Five minutes to the break, Quins skipper Peter Misango landed their second try just near the posts and but this time round Beckham send wide his conversion attempt.
Misango added his second try, five minutes into the second half, Beckham would once again miss from the tee. Newbie Dominic Osino got his name on the scoresheet with a penalty after taking over the kicking duties from Beckham.
The former Kabras man would then take advantage of Mwamba’s complacency at the back and got himself a try, it was after a chase on Smith Muhoya’s kick to seal their victory.
