Egerton attain Varsity League Bronze

Egerton University Wasps sealed a podium finish at the inaugural Varsity League after overcoming Catholic Monks 20-0 in  the play-off clash staged at the University of Nairobi grounds on Saturday.
To drop to the play-off,Egerton Wasps lost to University of Nairobi’s Mean Machine in the semi finals while Catholic University were ousted by Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad.
Egerton scored through three tries, one conversion and a penalty as Catholic Monks failed to register any points.
Egerton opened the scoring in the 4th minute through an unconverted try by captain Bramwell Omwangu before halfback Felix Oloo took the scores to 10-0 with their second unconverted try of the match.
Brian Ndege’s penalty fifteen minutes to halftime would hand the Njoro based side a 13-0 cushion at the interval before Omwangu sealed his brace with a try that Stanley Maina converted.
Catholic Monks barely threatened for the entire second half as Egerton held on to wrap up third spot.
