Kenya Simbas, through the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) chairman Richard Omwela have appealed to the government to aid them financially ahead of next month’s Repechage tournament in France.
As quoted by the KRU,Omwela, who was addressing a press conference at the KRU headquarters further lauded the Simbas for putting in hard work in training.
“As we head to France, we are urging the government to come in and offer financial support.We thank the Kenya Simbas for the hard work they put in during the training sessions,” Omwela said.
Sh 1.3 million
Omwela also disclosed that the side had raised sh 1.3 million through their paybill 155550 and the fundraising dinner held last week in Nairobi.
Simbas captain Davis Chenge and halfback Samson Onsomu are among those who attended the fundraiser.
“Through the Paybill number 155550 and the Fundraising dinner, we have managed to raise a total of 1.3Million which will help the Kenya Simbas as they head to France,” he said.
A squad of 30-players and the technical team is scheduled to leave for Romania on 31st October where they will play a friendly with the hosts in Bucharest on November 3.
They will then head to Marseille ,France to compete in the Round Robin Repechage tournament.While in the French city, Simbas will tackle Germany,Canada and Hong Kong for a place in Pool B of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
