Nakuru coach reacts on performance against Homeboyz

Despite losing to Homeboyz in the Impala Floodlit Tournament quarters, Nakuru RFC head coach Mitch Ocholla is happy that they had a good game in what was their first competitive match in the preseason.
Wanyore went down 37-30 but the coach is delighted with the display by his side which was missing key first-team players. Ocholla’s main concern is that they conceded more points in the match.
“Its good start of the season regardless of the outcome. We were missing experienced players but those who were available played well. Am happy that we had a good game against a solid side. The biggest worry in the defensive structure since we sucked in 37 points. Going forward were are now in the game mode into we will work have the 7s guys back and see how we move on, ” Mitch told Scrummage.
As they prepare for the plate clash against Nondies, the coach is keen to improve the defence to avoid conceding more. He believes playing once again in the tournament will be key in their 2018/19 season preparation.
“It will be a big plus for us (Playing in the plate). We have been doing a lot of unopposed rugby in the preseason so it will help try out what we have been doing in training. We need to work a lot of discipline at breakdowns because it cost us against Homeboyz.  Am happy with setpieces but we need to put more emphasis on shoving the scrum down and on defense our tackle completion need to improve,” he added.
