Paul Murunga unveiled as Kenya 7s Head Coach

Kenya Rugby Union have settled for Paul Amunavi Murunga to lead the Kenya 7s Technical Bench as the head coach.
Murunga who recently acquired the World Rugby Level 2 coaching certificates will have Mwamba RFC coach Kevin Wambua as his assistant while Geoffrey Kimani and Lameck Bogonko are the strength and conditioning coach and physio respectively
The Kakamega high Alumnus served as a Kenya 15s player for close to nine years where he managed 26 caps. He was named Homeboyz head in 2009 and coached them to earn Kenya Cup status.
At Homeboyz, he has won two National 7s Circuit with their first coming in 2016. His second title came in 2018 where his side amassed 102 points. Besides the 7s title, he led the Deejays to the first ever 15s Enterprise title.
The tactician served under Mitch Ochollah in 2009 as Kenya Under 19 assistant coach and later took over as the head coach mantle a position he held till his appointment as Kenya 7s assistant coach under Benjamin Ayimba. During his reign as the assistant coach, Kenya 7s managed the first ever Main in Singapore in 2016.
He was expected to take over the side after Ayimba’s exit but the Union settled for Innocent Simiyu who leaves after having led the Kenya 7s squad to two main cup appearance in the 2017/18 season where Kenya managed a record 104 points.
