Kenya 7s set to announce new coach, applicants revealed

With Innocent Simiyu’s tenure as Kenya 7s head coach expected to formally come to an end on October 17, the Kenya Rugby Union will this week name his replacement.
According to Citizen Digital, former Shujaa assistant coach Paul Murunga,currently head coach at Kenya Cup side Homeboyz is among the favourites to succeed Namcos at the helm.
Murunga was an assistant coach to Benjamin Ayimba when Kenya won the Singapore 7s title in 2016.
Mwamba,Kenya Lionesses and Laiser Hill Academy coach Kevin Wambua is also said to be interested with the job so did KCB Sevens tactician Dennis Mwanja.
Foreigners
KRU had earlier indicated that seven foreigners also expressed interest in the job.
The newly appointed coach could make his touchline debut when Kenya participates at the Africa Sevens slated for October 13 and 14 in Tunisia.
From the continental showpiece,Shujaa will shift focus to the Safari 7s in November before getting their HSBC World Sevens Series underway in Dubai.
