NATIONAL SEVENS CIRCUIT

KCB coach dazzled with exceptional trio

KCB 7s coach Dennis Mwanja is impressed with Vincent Onyala, Jeff Okwach and Samuel Asati’s performance in the just concluded National 7s Circuit.
The Bankers finished third in the Circuit and the trio played a major role in the side’s 2018 season where they only missed the semifinals ones.
Mwanja has termed the three players as exceptional and has predicted a bright future for the youngsters if they stay focused.
“They have been exceptional. We have known Asati and OKwach since their time with Suburbs. They are talents which we have nurtured for a long time they have a bright future in rugby. Together with Onyala, they are a focused lot,” Mwanja told Scrummage.
The former Kenyan International says the Bankers are keen to nurture young players who will fill the positions when the senior players retire.
“Our plan at KCB is it have young players who will take over the mantle from senior players such as Amonde (Andrew) and Chenge (Davis) who will leave one day,” he added.
Commenting on the level competition in 2018 7s, the tactician said:
“The top four sides have been consistent, KCB, Mwamba, Homeboyz have never missed in the main cup. The other season it would happen to the top side and they would even miss the quarters. This year has been a year of no upsets for the big boys.” He concluded.
KCB are in South Africa, preparing for the 15s season.
