Chenge: Why Kenya Simbas needs to qualify for 2019 World Cup

Kenya Simbas captain Davis Chenge says that local based players will have a perfect platform to market themselves should Kenya qualify for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
Chenge, an ex-Western Bulls captain wants the 15s side to emulate their 7s counterparts who have made a name in the World Rugby circles with their exemplary perfomances.
“We are playing for a position in the World Cup.Kenya has never been to the World Cup.We have been doing well in Sevens so we want to reciprocate the same performance in fifteens since it will open up opportunities for us;the players,” the KCB backrower told World Rugby.
“Playing at the World Cup will come with a lot of benefits starting with the club’s at the grassroots level.”
Simbas will be involved in a four-team Repechage tournament scheduled for November in Marseille,France with the winner of the round-robin tournament booking a berth at the global showpiece.
While in Europe, the side coached by New Zealander Ian Snook will face Germany,Hong Kong and Canada.
