Egerton Wasps edges TUM Marines in Varsity League

Egerton Wasps scored at the death to pick a 12-11 win over Technical University of Mombasa’s Marines in the second  KUSA Varsity League staged at UoN Grounds on Saturday 29 September.
In what was a cagey contest, Egerton took a 7-0 lead to the break courtesy of a try by Kevin Ladema which Ian Okumu converted.
Second half
In the final half, Marines came back re-energized and staged a camp in Egerton in 22.  They finally cut the deficit moments after the restart as Michael Nyambok powered his way to the try line on the left corner but Elvis Namusasi failed to add the extras.
Namusasi went on to convert two penalties that saw the coastal side take an 11-7 lead in the match. Egerton would score a late try through Moses Ngura but the conversion went. The win will see Egerton join Catholic Monks on the lists of sides that have won on day one.
Final matches
Two more matches are set to play Kenya Cup side Mean Machine will take on Championship side UoE Trojans in a 2pm kick-off as  Blad tackle JKUAT.
