Strathmore keen to meet KCB, hint at making exciting signings

Strathmore Leos coach John Mbai hopes that his side will be drawn against either of last season’s Kenya Cup finalists KCB or Kabras Sugar in their first match at the Impala Floodlit slated for 13-27 October.
Strathmore were knocked out by Mean Machine at the pre-quarter finals during last year’s tournament and will be hoping to draw inspiration from their sixth-place finish in the 2017/18 Kenya Cup campaign .
“This past 7s season did not look up.15s is a different affair. Last year when we lost to Mean Machine in our first Floodies match, it opened our eyes to the areas that required fixing,” Mbai is quoted by Impala Saracens portal.
“When we played in the Plate Final against Kenya Harlequins, the unlucky 20-25 loss was testament to our quick learning abilities.Floodies presented us the best opportunity to gauge ourselves much earlier in the season,” the tactician added.
“The efforts placed to finishing  6th at the 2017-18 Kenya Cup go back to us noticing what required panel beating at an early stage. This year, we want to do better. We want to meet the strongest team.”
KCB, Kabras
“To be exact, I hope that the draw places us against KCB, Kabras or any other 2017-18 Kenya Cup semi finalist in our first match.”
“This would be a good opportunity to effectively gauge our pre-season preparations. We have been recruiting players from high schools, but don’t be shocked to see exciting signings by close of this transfer season,” Mbai concluded.
Hosts Impala Saracens ,Nakuru RFC and KCB are some of the sides that have been confirmed for this year’s tournament.
