Abounji in contention for Oilers return ahead of Kenya Cup

Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru has hinted that utility back Daniel Abounji might be available for the Kenya Cup season.
Abounji has been away since April 2018 after he joined his family in America. During his time in America, the former Homeboyz and Kakamega High star has been training with Mud turtle Rugby club.
Weru has revealed that he had a chat with the 2016 National 7s Circuit winner who suggested that he is likely to make a return to the side.
“I had a conversation with Dan Abounji and he might be coming back so it is a matter of wait and see. I am, however, not sure about Muregi,”  Weru told Scrummage.

Oilers will be seeking to continue their 15s success story as they join the big boys in the top tier. They had an unbeaten season in the lower tier, moved to the KRU Championship where they lost just two matches to earn promotion the top tier.
The Nakuru based side will start their season with an away clash to KCB in Nairobi, before hosting Kenya Harlequins in Nakuru seven days later. Nondies, Mwamba and Homeboyz will be among their opening five games.
The Kenya Cup season will kick off on 17th November.
