Seven foreigners interested in Kenya 7s head coach job

Seven foreigners and five local coaches are interested in the Kenya 7s job which was recently advertised, Kenya Rugby Union has confirmed.
The Union advertised the Kenya Sevens technical bench jobs following the expiry of Innocent Simuyu’s two years tenure. So far they have received 12 application for the head coach post.
Eight applicants are eyeing the Strength and Conditioning post while nine are interested in physio job. The team manager role has attracted 11 applicants. According to the Union, the shortlisting and interviewing process will take place this week.
“The Head Coach position has received a total of 12 applications made up of 7 foreign and 5 local applicants. 8 applicants have expressed their interest in the Conditioning Coach position. This includes 3 foreigners and 5 locals while 9 applicants,all local, have applied for the Physio’s position. A further 11 local applicants have expressed their interest in the Team Manager’s post,” reads a statement by the Union.
The team has been under the tutelage of Innocent Simuyu who had Will Webster as his assistant while Eric Ogweno, Geoffrey Kimani, Lameck Bogonko served as Team manager, Strength and Condition and physio respectively.
The whole bench was eligible to reapply but Innocent Simiyu has been quoted saying he will not reapply for the job. Fijian Sailosi Naiteqe and Paul Murunga are some of the coach believed to be of the list of the 12 applicants.
