Mwamba dethrones Homeboyz in Dala 7s

Mwamba RFC beat Dala 7s holders Homeboyz RFC 17-0 in a Main Cup finals staged at Mamboleo Grounds in Kisumu County  on Sunday evening, to lift trophy.
This was the third main cup final meeting this season between Homeboyz and Mwamba RFC. The last two had been won by Homeboyz (Prinsloo 7s and Sepetuka).
Mwamba who were seeking to avoid another final defeat to Homeboyz started off well scoring through Daniel Taabu but he failed to add a conversion to his try. The side stood tall and guarded the slim lead till halftime break whistle.

Gregory Odhiambo efforts to add the second try were cut off but Collins Injera ensured they doubled the lead from a penalty. Once again Kulabu failed to add the extras.  Homeboyz were reduced to six men after a yellow card to Mark Wandeto.
Eliakim Kichoi would seal Mwamba’s victory by scoring the third that was converted for a 17-0 win. The win marks Mwamba’s first main cup win this season.
Strathmore Leos are back to the top tier after beating Mbale RFC in Division two finals. The Students dropped to the second tier after being relegated in Mombasa.

KCB were denied the chance to win the bronze for the fourth time after a 12-7 loss to Impala Saracens. Jeff Okwach was sent to the bin as well Brian Omondi in the opening half.  Impala had scored early through Sam Motari after he was set up by Billy Omondi.
KCB leveled the scores through Shaban Ahmed’s converted try. In the final half, Motari added the second try while KCB’s chase continued to be marred with indiscipline that saw them reduced to six men again. Impala went on to win the clash 12-7.
