Nondies,KCB reach Dala 7s quarters as MMUST, Oilers pick first wins

Nondies, Homeboyz, joined Kenya Harlequins, Mwamba and KCB in the quarterfinals of the Dala 7s after winning their respective round two matches played at Mamboleo Grounds.
Kenya Harlequin became the first side to reach the last eight after edging Nakuru for a 22-19 victory. Quins led the match 17-12 at halftime thanks to tries by Max Thieru, Willy Ambaka, and Frank Wanayama. Ambaka would add one more try in the final half as the side went to book a slot in Sunday’s quarters with a game to spare.


Mwamba are through to the last quarter after beating Impala Saracens 24-7 in a second pool B match. Mwamba led courtesy of Gregory Odhiambo’s try converted by Daniel Taabu. Billy Odhiambo went over after being set up by Collins Injera for a 12-0 score.  In the final half, Taabu touched down twice to take the scores to 24-0. Anthony Odhiambo scored Impala’ consolation as Patrick Mutuku converted for a 24-7 scoreline.
KCB beat Northern Suburbs 22-7 to join Mwamba and Kenya Harlequins in the semis.  Nondies outclassed MKU to win 36-7 while Dala 7s holders Homeboyz picked a 41-0 win over host Kisumu. Homeboyz are yet to concede a point in Kisumu.


Kakamega based side MMUST and Kabras RFC picked the first wins of the day with their round two matches in pool A and C respectively. MMUST managed ran four tries past Kisii RFC to win 22-12 while Kabras scored four tries with two being converted to beat Mean Machine 24-12. Oiler also bounced back to winning ways after winning ways, beating Blak Blad 28-14.
