Impala youngster eager to aid Kenya Simbas to historic World Cup

Impala Saracens halfback Xavier Kipng’etich has set sights on making the final Kenya 15s squad that is set to compete at the Repechage tournament in Marseilles, France in November 2018.
Kipng’etich who has three caps under his belt was named in the provisional 33-man squad on Saturday and he is optimistic of making the Europe trip where he hopes to help the side secure a first ever World Cup berth.
“When I started the 2017/18 season ,I was targetting to be part of the provisional squad and luckily for me I made it and went ahead to play three games; so far I have three caps,” the Maseno School alumnus told his club’s portal.
The Kenya U20 skipper joins clubmate Samson Onsomu and Mohammed Omollo of Homeboyz in the list of scrumhalves called up in the squad that starts training on Monday at the RFUEA Ground.
“Its a good feeling since I have achieved my dream.Its the World Cup qualifiers so its a good thing.”

Simbas qualified for the Repechage after finishing second in the Africa Gold Cup behind winners Namibia.
At the Repechage, Ian Snook’s side get their campaign underway with a duel against Canada on 11 November before tackling Hong Kong on 17 November .
Their final match will be against Germany on 23 November starting 8:00pm.
The Repechage winners will join holders New Zealand,South Africa ,Italy and African Champions Namibia in pool B at next year’s global showpiece in Japan.
