KCB rues tough luck after Driftwood 7s final miss

KCB 7s Coach Dennis Mwanja feels his side had an unlucky bounce in the Driftwood 7s and ended up missing out on a final spot.
The Bankers were knocked out of the Driftwood 7s Semis following a 12-10 loss to Nakuru RFC. The side led 10-0 in the clash courtesy of Shaban Ahmed unconverted tries. Nakuru, however, fought back and won 12-10.
Main Cup target
The former Kenyan International admits that his target heading Mombasa was to win the main cup but things did not turn up as he would have wanted. The coach also admits that their clash against Homeboyz in the fight for the third clash was not easy for his side but they managed to withstand the Deejays pressure to 14-7.
“Our goal was to carry the main cup trophy but things change and sometimes you have unlucky bounce. We fell short losing to Nakuru and in the knock out phase and any team that makes that far is a worthy opponent. The clash against Homeboyz was a tough one but we managed to win, ” he told Scrummage.
Despite failing to reach any main cup final this season, Mwanja has consistent with the side leading them to a fourth-place finish at Prinsloo 7s, a third-place finish at Sepetuka 7s, Kabeberi 7s, and Driftwood 7s.
The Bankers are placed third on the log with 66 points.
