Nondies shocks Mwamba as Strathmore holds Kabras at Driftwood 7s

Nondies shocked Prinsloo and Sepetuka 7s runners-up Mwamba, handing them a 24-12 beating in a Driftwood 7s Group D match played at Mombasa Sports Club on Saturday morning.
The Rangers led 17-0 at the break while  Mwamba fought back in the second half and scored 12. A penalty try would, however, hand Nondies a 24-12 win in the clash.
In another Pool D match, Kenya Harlequin handed newly promoted side Makueni 17-5 defeat. Jeff Wendo and Lyle Asiligwa scored for a 12-0 at the break while the second stanza Frank Wanyama scored the final try.


In Pool A, Homeboyz RFC started their Driftwood 7s title defence on a winning note, beating hosts Mombasa 19-5.
Forward Brian Wandera gave Homeboyz a lead while Fly Half Johnstone Olindi extended their lead with a converted try and Kenyan 7s skipper Oscar Ayodi sealed their victory with another converted try.


In the opening game, Menengai Oilers crossed the white chalk three times and converted one of their tries to win 17-5 over Northern Suburbs who earned a promotion, replacing Mean Machine who were ruled out after being involved in an accident.
Mmust who were promoted to replace Blak Blad went down 17-5 to former Kenya Cup side Kisii RFC while Nakuru started off well with a win against Kisumu RFC. Two tries with one being converted saw them win 12-0.
National 7s Circuit holders Kabras RFC were held to a 19-19 draw by Strathmore Leos. The second clash in Pool C saw KCB edge Impala Saracen by one unconverted try.
