Kenya Simbas denied direct World Cup ticket by Namibia

Namibia successfully booked a ticket to the World Cup and defended the Africa Gold Cup after a 53-28 win over Kenya Simbas in a match played on Saturday in Namibia.
Kenyan will have to a win in the Repechage tournament in France to book a place in the 2019 World Rugby Cup which will be in Japan
The Namibians took lead at the fifth minute courtesy of a penalty kick from Loubser Cliven. The side would then dominate possession forcing Kenya to stay backfoot for close to five minutes.
The first push forward saw Kenya score trough winger Willy Ambaka. Namibia fought back and after two of their penalties were thwarted, they managed to score fullback through Botha Chrysander. Cliven conversion saw the side reclaim the lead.

Namibia opened a 10 point gap after a second try by De La Harpe and a conversion by Cliven. Cliven went on to score his own try at the left corner but failed to convert it and the teams would head to the break with Namibia in the comfortable 22-7 lead.
At the start of the second half, Namibia went 22 points up after a rolling maul that saw them dot the first try of the second half. Cliven conversion changed the scoreline to 29-7.   He would mend for his earlier miss with a 3 pointer.

Willy Ambaka brought Kenya back to the game with a converted try. Tjeriko Mahepisa widened the gap with a converted try while a penalty try for the home side sent them to 46 points . Due to the offense that led to the penalty try, Ambaka was sin-binned.
Kenya’s substitutes Malcolm Osando and Mohammed Omollo scored but their tries were not enough to cut the gap.  The Simbas have once again picked the third position in the Africa Gold. Their last win over Namibia was in 2014.
