Kabeberi 7s: Winning starts for Homeboyz, KCB ; Impala, Kabras held

National 7s Circuit leaders Homeboyz kicked off the Kabeberi 7s campaign with a convincing 22-7 win over Strathmore Leos in a Pool A match played at Machakos Stadium on Saturday.
Four tries with one being converted were all the Deejays need to see off the students. In the opener, Nakuru FC edged their hometown rivals Menengai Oilers by one converted try scored by Kenya 7s star Nelson Oyoo. The lone try of the game was scored in the final half.

Kababeri 7s holders Impala were held to a 7-7 draw by Kenyatta University side Blak Blad. Kenya Simba star Eric Kerre scored for Impala and Mark Kwemoi’s conversion sent the 7-0 up. In the final half, Blad responded with a try and Brian Wahinya converted to deny the Gazelles a winning start.
Hosts Mwamba beat Kisumu RFC 24-0 thanks to four tries with two being converted.

In pool C, Kisii hit Kakamega based MMUST 31-o while KCB scored three tries to beat Kenya Harlequins 17-10 in the final Pool C match.  Kabras failed to pick maximum points from Mean Machine as they were held to a 7-7 draw in Pool D.  Aluda Beda’s converted try saw the side lead 7-0 but Valentine Odoyo’s converted try tied the scores.
In the final match, Three tries were enough for Nondies in the final match against Northern Suburbs. The Rangers got a 15-7 win.
